About Confluence Distilling
Confluence is a Calgary-based urban distillery focused on producing gins and ready-to-drink canned cocktails. Confluence means the meeting of two rivers, in the same way, Calgary is located at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers. Confluence strives to bring people together by facilitating exceptional experiences through the power of gin. We work to enhance the community and culture of Calgary, to make it an even better place to live.
About Ross Alger, co-founder and distiller of Confluence, and past-president of the ACDA
Ross is a former oil and gas engineer who started tinkering with distilling at a relatively young age. Ross started the distillery with his partner Pheelan Mah in 2018 in the heart of the Barley Belt in Calgary, surrounded by craft breweries. Many of the unique projects Confluence works on are collaborations with the various breweries in the neighbourhood. Ross also assists with the Alberta Craft Distillers Association in order to drive the industry forward and lobbies for improvements to our fire code, and provincial and federal tax rates (which are significantly higher than comparable industries).
